(Not) On Technology in Chilean Archeology

The theoretical development of Latin American archeology in recent years has led to discussion and visulization systems of colonization and domination of the historical process and archaeological academic discipline, which have generated a variety of forms of exclusion and replication of dominant systems. Within this theoretical reflection, aspects related to the use of technology to archaeological work are totally absent. While this theoretical development responds to different scenarios, within which the empowerment of indigenous groups is a major, archeology has had to respond to the emergence of multiple and frequent social needs that require him to positions and solutions.
Despite this theoretical concern has led the education of the archeology in my carrer, It has served to visualize the social context of the profession: discipline does not exist in isolation from its social context, responding to needs and its products (knowledge) have effects on society. In this context, the discussion of methodological aspects of the discipline has been strongly addressed.
This is the way that have left the technical side of archaeological work, in our classes the reflection of these issues is minimal. As a science that is interested in understanding the past, working with the record that is both cultural heritage, so he is not only a source of scientific information, has many components, is of interest of communities linked to it by reasons of identity, ethnic, spiritual, etc.
Because the investigation is working with taxpayer money, with heritage of all, a published guidance is needed in this regard, a draft form to the wider society, the scope of the discipline.
The technology fills a need archeology only scientific, is a means to test the reality and as such, this pattern of use has been and will hegemony in our country that follows the technological trends globally, in this sense, local input is low level of innovation.
Perhaps the road is to accommodate the research process to local communities members interested in the production of knowledge, encouraging the incorporation of different epistemological frameworks in research aimed at the democratization of wealth intervention also provide a space for training.

The facilities of my faculty

The facilities of my facultys have shown different degrees of development during the last years. The different facilities like the computer labs and the photocopying place express different degrees of concern of the facultys authorities. In this sense, the computer labs are a place where you can see that it has invested heavily, are spacious, with moderns PC desktops, LCD screens and air conditioning. In the other hand, the photocopying room is a very small place with an extra workload, whose space is needed urgently improve, especially considering the people who work there, they do a great job, but must be standing all day and sometimes withstand high temperatures inside the room. The place of photocopying is where all texts come study and was not given sufficient importance. Initially I recommend improving the space and facilities for the photocopying room well as putting shelves for handling documents of differents carrers. The benefits of this improvements are the professionalism of its employees, improving their working conditions, having a more pleasant environment to work, which takes an appropriate order of copies (for which no missing or envelopes), deleting crowds and have an environment more pleasant for the students themselves. Other ways of improving facilities goes in the way of making better space study, to generate better and adequate space for students to develop their activities, within this, the study of lighting, the color of the diferents spaces and the use of plants within the enclosure are aspects that should be considered for the benefit of all.

Films Who Shagged Me

I've always loved films since I was little, when i was 13 and went alone to the cinema, I have seen many films throughout my life, every kind imaginable, but currently I would say that I am an admirer of sci-fi movies and especially the STAR WARS saga and the ALIENS saga, I especially like the photografy, the sets, the customs and caracters. Despite this, the last movie I saw was UP with my family, but my son -who is 14 years old- was upset at the beginning because he thinks he should do adult movies not a cartoon movie, although he liked the movie, and even he said that cry a little.
Despite this, my favorite movie is another kind of science fiction, not quite as space-based, this is A CLOCKWORK ORANGE of Stanley Kubrick he is one of my favorite filmmakers, I like several of his movies, especially THE SHINNING in a fabulous performance of Jack Nicholson, who is not my favorite, but is a very good actor. Another of my favorite directors is Spike Lee, an africanamerican director who masterfully expresses the urbans and racials conflicts in their films, for example DO THE RIGHT THING shows the development of latent racial conflict in a multiracial neighborhood is a movie you must see.
The other kind of films I like are about the gangsters , among them THE UNTOUCHABLES of Brian De Palma, and my favorites of Martin Scorsese: CASINO and GOOD FELLAS, the latter two starring Robert De Niro, one of my favorites actors (Taxi Driver, Godfather, Cape Fear, etc.). I forgot that one of my favorite movies is 2001 SPACE ODDITY, by Stanley Kubrick, that presents a particularly relationship between human and an human-machine which gives an unexpected change, this film speaks about the interaction with the human thinking machine, a subject addressed by cutting Japanese animated movies like GHOST ON THE SHELL , which chronicles the life of a android to start thinking like a human, a theme that is also ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, but in another context, it is noted that the original idea of AI was Stanley Kubrick, who died without carrying it out.

Santiago trip

If I were a tourist, I`d would go to visit the Central Market, where you can sample the national cuisine. Especially I would recommend to test seafood from our shore, a highly recommended place and usually visited by tourists. This visit can be complemented with a walk in thecity center, where you can visit historical buildings such as around the Plaza de Armas. Another place, about 40 minutes from Santiago is Farellones a center for ski and winter sports surrounded by the beautiful mountains of the Andes. The mountains are especially recomended for young people or in good physical condition. There are a lot of types of travel with various types of difficulty, i recommend it the Provincia or Manquehue hill for begginers. For advanced walkers the Plomo hill (5440m) is a excelent choice, but it may take several days. But not all is mountains, Santiago has a lot of nice walks in various parks like Forestal park, in the city center, with the Museum But not all is mountain, Santiago has a lot of nice walks in various parks like “Forestal”, with the Museum of Fine Arts usually called “Museo de Bellas Artes” and the Museum of Modern Art or “Museo de Arte Contemporaneo” both in the same building. Another park is the “Parque Metropolitano”, in the San Cristobal Hill, a family outing, with a zoo, picnic areas, art galleries and excellents viewpoints, especially after a rain when the sky looks clear.

The Music and Me

My relation with the music is so special to me, when i was young the style of music in fashion is the disco music, and my sisters, - more olders than me-, took me to his parties, usually at friends' homes. While I was like a mascot for them, watched as they arrived with their amazings vinyl records under his arms, to bring their own music, in stereo turntable. This, though it may sound unusual for this time, marked me for life. When i was 13 years, i worked at a disco on the beach, as a DJ. At that time, i work based on cassette tapes, so it was very difficult!!. When I grew up more, my work could start buying vinyl records and equipment and had my first professional turntable at 19. That took me to hang out with friends playing music with them, I participated doing scratch in the music, generating a lot of noise with them. After playing several times with different groups come to experience and develop a style of music itself, independent or indie, like electronic crossovers, i called to my experiment DFL2, a style of house in Chile, which is still ironic for me, as i continue renting.

Transantiago

Transantiago is the new way to conceive the public transport in the city of Santiago. When this system started it produced a social problem with a lot of difficulties. The main problems it were to change the mentality of people -reluctant to change- and the failure in funding system. Some problems have solutions, the government had to finance most of the system and it has been improving slowly.
I like transantiago because it is better than the old system, witch was dirty, polluting and chaotic. With the new system the buses are mostly brand new, so they are less polluting, this vehicules are larger than previous ones. The use of the Bip card is another advantage, now we don’t have to carry cash. In the future the improving GPS systems in the buses should result in a better traffic flow.

My first term of 2009

The first time of this year i was very busy with my main occupations: studing in the university, my family business and my job in archaeology. In general terms it was a very hard time for me. Firstly, i had to pass for a second time a difficult course to me, with a bad (or mad) profesor, this situation was very exhausting and i was on the verge of stress, it was definitely my biggest challenge.
On the other hand, my family was a constant support, but not economic terms because i had to constantly work when time permited. The opportunities for work in archaeology were lower the last semester, but in compensation, i have more work opportunities in the summer.
