(Not) On Technology in Chilean Archeology

The theoretical development of Latin American archeology in recent years has led to discussion and visulization systems of colonization and domination of the historical process and archaeological academic discipline, which have generated a variety of forms of exclusion and replication of dominant systems. Within this theoretical reflection, aspects related to the use of technology to archaeological work are totally absent. While this theoretical development responds to different scenarios, within which the empowerment of indigenous groups is a major, archeology has had to respond to the emergence of multiple and frequent social needs that require him to positions and solutions.
Despite this theoretical concern has led the education of the archeology in my carrer, It has served to visualize the social context of the profession: discipline does not exist in isolation from its social context, responding to needs and its products (knowledge) have effects on society. In this context, the discussion of methodological aspects of the discipline has been strongly addressed.
This is the way that have left the technical side of archaeological work, in our classes the reflection of these issues is minimal. As a science that is interested in understanding the past, working with the record that is both cultural heritage, so he is not only a source of scientific information, has many components, is of interest of communities linked to it by reasons of identity, ethnic, spiritual, etc.
Because the investigation is working with taxpayer money, with heritage of all, a published guidance is needed in this regard, a draft form to the wider society, the scope of the discipline.
The technology fills a need archeology only scientific, is a means to test the reality and as such, this pattern of use has been and will hegemony in our country that follows the technological trends globally, in this sense, local input is low level of innovation.
Perhaps the road is to accommodate the research process to local communities members interested in the production of knowledge, encouraging the incorporation of different epistemological frameworks in research aimed at the democratization of wealth intervention also provide a space for training.

The facilities of my faculty

The facilities of my facultys have shown different degrees of development during the last years. The different facilities like the computer labs and the photocopying place express different degrees of concern of the facultys authorities. In this sense, the computer labs are a place where you can see that it has invested heavily, are spacious, with moderns PC desktops, LCD screens and air conditioning. In the other hand, the photocopying room is a very small place with an extra workload, whose space is needed urgently improve, especially considering the people who work there, they do a great job, but must be standing all day and sometimes withstand high temperatures inside the room. The place of photocopying is where all texts come study and was not given sufficient importance. Initially I recommend improving the space and facilities for the photocopying room well as putting shelves for handling documents of differents carrers. The benefits of this improvements are the professionalism of its employees, improving their working conditions, having a more pleasant environment to work, which takes an appropriate order of copies (for which no missing or envelopes), deleting crowds and have an environment more pleasant for the students themselves. Other ways of improving facilities goes in the way of making better space study, to generate better and adequate space for students to develop their activities, within this, the study of lighting, the color of the diferents spaces and the use of plants within the enclosure are aspects that should be considered for the benefit of all.
